CYCLONES FAQ 2022-23 SEASON
History
New Vision Athletics began running a travel basketball program in conjunction with the NVA house league program in 2009. Players must be enrolled in NVA house basketball in order to participate in NVA Cyclones travel.
There are typically two age level teams.
9U team (kids typically in 3rd grade)
10U team (kids typically in 4th & 5th grade)
Practices and games are coached by NVA Founder, Kraig Moreland. There are some years where an experienced assistant is also utilized to help depending on group size.
Time Commitment
In addition to each child’s twice/week NVA house schedule, there is one travel practice a week held on either Tuesday or Thursday at Lake Bluff Elementary School. Our travel teams compete in one-day basketball events every-other week called “one-day shoot outs”. Events involve playing 3 games against other travel clubs over a 4 to 5 hour time period. Venues are 30 to 60 minutes away.
Events are typically played on Saturdays (late afternoons & early evenings) so that our players don’t have conflicts with their NVA house schedule.
Team Size
Each level will consist of 12 to 15 players that practice together weekly as a group. 7 to 9 players are scheduled to play in each game - we do NOT bring the entire group to every game. So there is flexibility and attendance is NOT mandatory for every event.
Cost
$300 practice & administrative fee
$100 uniform fee
$35 /game (debited after each event)
